Alexa Social Hack
Together with my apprentice Jason https://framecreation.de/ I tried out a social hack. Even though landline phones are dying out, they still exist. Many of them have a built-in answering machine. If the answering machine is switched on and “listening in” is activated – and a voice assistant is within earshot – a phone call can trigger smart home commands. Depending on which commands are stored, lights can be turned on, alarms set or even doors opened!!
Our recommendation is therefore clear – be sure to switch off “listening in” on the answering machine if you have a voice assistant in the same room.
