What on earth is a digital twin? If you’re asking yourself that and want to know how to create one, you’ve come to exactly the right place!

But first, a quick step back. A digital twin is a digital version of yourself. The person speaks and gestures exactly like you. I’ve had a HeyGen account for a while to make photos talk. For a finance company, for example, I just created two AI influencers. Thanks to HeyGen these avatars can now talk to each other and present the company on social media. For that, different interview-setting photos are enough. To train a digital twin you need video!

Talk into the camera for 2 minutes, insert short pauses between sentences – done.
You can also have specific gestures recorded and include them later.
It takes a few minutes until the twin is created – then you can have this digital version of yourself say whatever you want.

There are three ways to do that:
You can write your own script and use the built-in voice clone,
You can have your script read aloud by a third-party plugin such as ElevenLabs,
or you upload an audio file with the voice directly.

Spoiler alert: the voice makes or breaks the whole project!

I’ve said it in earlier videos from time to time: if the voice fits, people forgive a lot in the video!

For creating AI voices I’m a big fan of hume.ai. Lately, though, I’ve had a lot of voice-overs in German – and there ElevenLabs currently has the edge. Sorry hume.ai.

I’m not happy with my own voice, my own voice clone, yet. But we’ll try a few more variants together in a moment. One option would of course also be to simply record the text with a good microphone. But ideally – hear me out – ideally I’ve written a wonderful text – send it to WhatsApp or Telegram and a short time later a Short is automatically posted on YouTube and TikTok.

No showering, blow-drying, recording, cutting, exporting, uploading, publishing.

One message and the Short is up. At least that’s my vision. I’ve wanted to play with N8N for a long time anyway – that will surely be one of the next videos.
