PIKA | PIKAFFECTS
It has been pretty quiet around PIKA lately. But now they are back with a BANG.
For a few months I have been generating videos with PIKA every now and then – ah – and was never really happy. Now camera moves were added first – and after that ready-made AI effects. They are called: “Melt it”, “Inflate it” or “Crush it”.
A mega approach in AI generation, I think. Used creatively, it can upgrade a video very quickly. Especially for transitions this is a great tool.
Before we look at the individual effects, I did a bit more research on PIKA itself.
Pika Labs, also known as Pika, was founded in 2023 and is headquartered in Mountain View, California. The company is a rising player in AI-powered video generation and editing. Currently Pika Labs employs a small team of about 13 people, including former AI researchers from Google, Meta and Uber.
Pika Labs has raised 135 million US dollars in investment so far, including from prominent investors such as Spark Capital and Jared Leto, frontman of 30 Seconds to Mars. They have even used Pika’s technology at their concerts. The most recent funding round has brought the company to a valuation of 200 to 300 million US dollars.
But let’s take a closer look at the program.
Here are my own attempts:
I made this clip with PIKA some time ago:
