In 1999 I sat at a professional TV edit suite for the first time. An AVID Media Composer – or simply AVID. The way other people learn to play the piano, I learned AVID. During the day the suite was occupied by editors and journalists, so as an intern I spent the nights and slept in the edit suite. I absolutely wanted to master the program. Because just like improvising on the piano, you have to master the technique of editing in your sleep to have room in your brain for creativity. My opinion. To this day this program is indispensable in the media industry and I even secured the domain avidartist.de – that’s how far my love for the program goes. And yet – by now I only edit with DaVinci Resolve. 🙂 Of course I keep paying my annual fee for AVID so I can still open and edit older projects. Did I mention that DaVinci is free in its entirely sufficient basic version?
With DaVinci Resolve I can have German subtitles created automatically and translate them with ChatGPT into English or any other language.

My prediction:
In the future there will be a ChatGPT plugin in DaVinci Resolve. Then you won’t have to take the detour via an external site anymore, but translate at the push of a button.
